Light aircraft Crash at Nottingham City airport

Light aircraft crash at Nottingham City airport

I was going on a vacation in January when suddenly, I witnessed a light aircraft crash- landing that became a headline in the newspaper.
On January 30th, 2019, I was going to Manchester to watch a football match between Manchester United and Liverpool. I was going to take the plane from Nottingham City airport to Manchester international airport with British airways.

I was going with my father, and a good friend of mine.
We had past the security and passport control, checked in our luggage and now we were waiting for the boarding sign.

I was looking thru the window at the airport, when I saw a light aircraft take off from the airport.
The same aircraft came back a few minutes later, and I could see some light grey smoke from one of the wings. However, suddenly the aircraft started to go down in a very high speed. Then the aircraft disappeared behind a bunch of trees a could hear the noisy crash.

All of the planes were suddenly cancelled for about two to three hours, because the airport staff, the police and the firefighters were going to investigate the crash- landing.
Apparently, I was one of the few people who saw the crash- landing, so I got interviewed by a journalist for the local newspaper, Nottingham Post.

I told him what I saw, and he wrote it down on a piece of paper. The interview only lasted for a few minutes and my name ended up in the local newspaper, Nottingham Post.

The same day I watched the football match in Manchester I also read about the aircraft crash- landing that I witnessed in the newspaper.
The aircraft apparently crash- landed because of “ice in the carburettor”.
Luckily, everyone onboard and on the ground survived.

  1. This is really interesting, and terrifying at the same time.. I kind of wish I was there to see it as I've never seen it before, but also I kind of don't want to see it as I don't wanna be left traumatized. Love your story eiter way:)
